John will show you how to run all the necessary tests required to use the Zone System in an easy to follow, simplified approach, which is suitable to all film formats. So whether you shoot 35mm or large format, the Zone System can be applied.

The Zone System was invented and made famous by Ansel Adams but John Blakemore has simplified a lot of the confusion which surrounds this photographic technique.

You will see that John’s testing methods do not need any high tech equipment like Densitometers and can be easily done by other simple means.

On day one, John will describe how to do the various Zone System tests and demonstrate the making of some prints. Day two provides you with the opportunity to make prints from your negatives with John’s guidance.

A reasonable level of Darkroom experience would be required to get the full benefit of this workshop.

Time will also be provided for you to bring your portfolio or just loose prints for feedback.

John will also be presenting a talk and show of his work on Friday 17th April 2009 in the Gallery of Photography, Temple Bar, Dublin. Entry is free but registration with FP Workshops should be made as places are limited.

Venue: Airfield Trust (Dublin)
